The Mohs Surgical Procedure

Typically, Mohs surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure in the physician’s office. Although the patient is awake during the entire procedure, discomfort is usually minimal and no greater than it would be for more routine skin cancer surgeries. Dr. Edward DiPreta is board certified dermatologist and an expert in Mohs surgery. He has over 10 years experience and more than 7000+ successful surgeries.

Mohs Micrographic Surgery is the best way to remove most skin cancers. It is a staged procedure. On the day of the procedure, a sample will be taken and examined under the microscope by Dr. DiPreta. Additional pieces will be removed as needed until the cancer is clear. It is best to be prepared to be in the office either all morning or all afternoon depending on appointment time. This procedure reduces the healing time, decreases the scar size and brings the cure rate up toward 99.5%. Call DiPreta Dermatology to learn more about Mohs surgery.
